Thanks for your interest in Running with Heart
About Us
Thanks for taking the time to stop by and see what this fun run is all about. We are a student organization at Iowa State University, led by dedicated students, looking to provide a fun, energetic, and exciting event for our community while helping out a great cause.
About the Course
We have taken our two favorite races, the Bix 7 and the Living History Farms XC Race, and incorporated the best elements into our course. You will find one tall hill, a few smaller hills, and a dirt path, which creates a challenging but very exciting and fun course. We believe our course is one of the most unique in Ames!
Our Reason
Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of American men and women. Exercise, like running, jogging, and walking, has been proven to help prevent chronic diseases and significantly improve cardiovascular health. Your participation in this event will help support scientific research and provide educational programs in our community.
All proceeds from this event will benefit the American Heart Association. We appreciate your support for this great cause and your participation in our event. We look forward to seeing you on race day!
Mission Statement
Running With Heart is a voluntary committee dedicated to raising awareness of cardiovascular disease, the number one cause of death in America. Each year a 5K/10K run/walk is organized to promote exercise, educate participants about heart health and obesity, and build community in Ames and at Iowa State University. All proceeds benefit the American Heart Association.
